TikTok’s algorithm measures watch time. If someone swipes away in the first 3 seconds, the algorithm stops showing your video. A script ensures every second earns the next.
The Perfect TikTok Script Structure
1. The Hook (0-3 seconds)
This is everything. Your hook must create an open loop the viewer needs to close. Examples: “Nobody talks about this…” or “I tested 50 apps. Only 3 matter.” or “This changed my entire business.”
2. The Setup (3-8 seconds)
Explain the context. Why should they care? Make it personal or relatable.
3. The Value (8-20 seconds)
Deliver the content. Use numbered steps, before/after comparisons, or demonstrations. Each point should be 2-3 seconds max.
4. The Payoff (20-25 seconds)
The resolution. What changed? What’s the result? This is where you close the loop you opened in the hook.
5. The CTA (25-30 seconds)
“Follow for more” or “Save this for later” or “Link in bio.” Keep it natural.
Text Overlays Matter
85% of TikTok is watched without sound. Your text overlays should tell the story independently. One key phrase per scene, large enough to read on mobile.
Sound Selection
